Monthly Community Building Circle for Black Healing Practitioners & Social Change Workers

The Haven’s monthly offering, The ‘Congo Square’ Circle, is a community building circle for black healing practitioners and social change workers to cultivate self and communal care, find resonance with one another, be restored & create liberation.

We will be embodying the ancestral spirit of Congo Square, the place enslaved Africans and indigenous folks would gather in the French Quarter in New Orleans on Sundays, the one day enslaved Africans were considered “free”. This space is trauma-informed, anti-oppressive and centered around and for black bodies desiring intentional healing and liberation.

Black healers, dreamers, disruptors, resisters, artists and the like.. this is for us. Come sit in Circle, take a breath, rest & receive by engaging in guided dialogue, breathwork, and liberatory journaling.

Services + Offerings

  • A monthly community building circle offered to black healing practitioners and social change workers to connect, reset and heal communally.

  • Workshops for youth development professionals or educators include experiential and discussion based learning focused on a variety of topics: trauma-informed teaching, DEIB, Restorative Relationships, Dignity-Centered co-working and more.

  • Circle keeper training is for individuals who desire to be trained in Restorative Justice practice of circle keeping for community building and restorative group needs. This training includes a teaser or a full 3 day experience.

  • Facilitated and guided process for conflicts within groups (workplaces, neighborhoods, families, schools etc). Participants are individually prepared for a guided discussion focused on addressing the questions from the perspective of those who have caused harm, those affected by that harm and any other supporting parties. This process includes an agreement generation portion at the end to collectively determine what needs to happen to make the conflict right and repair the relationships affected.

  • Currently our classes are being offered via other Baltimore organizations. Our signature class REST + RESTORE for black women focuses on exploring the topic of rest as black women and building a more aligned relationship with it.
